Survived World War 1, waiting for Demob, Bute, 1919.
Jimmy Gillies, centre front-row, with the scarf around his neck, and fellow artillery men awaiting demobilisation after service in Gallipoli, Serbia, Macedonia and Greece. Demob never came and each of them just left (from Rothesay) and went back to Glasgow and civilian life. So when Jimmy died in 1965 he was still on active service.
